Hunter Engineering Company is a world leader in automotive service equipment, offering state-of-the-art wheel alignment systems, wheel balancers, lift racks and more.  Hunter equipment is approved and used by vehicle manufacturers, automobile and truck dealers, tire dealers and automotive service facilities around the world.  We are currently seeking a Regional Trainer for the Greater Toronto area. 

 

 

DESCRIPTION

  • The regional trainer position is an independent contract position
  • The contract authorizes the trainer to conduct Hunter classes within an assigned area
  • Payment for services is usually received by the trainer the week after the training course is completed
  • The trainer will receive a 1099 from Hunter for tax reporting
  • All travel expenses are the responsibility of the regional trainer
  • All insurance is the responsibility of the regional trainer
  • A million dollar vehicle liability insurance naming Hunter as the additional insured is required (estimated cost is $350 per year

 

TERRITORY

  • Each instructor is assigned 2 or more training centers 
  • Instructor must maintain communication with the Hunter regional managers and the St Louis training department
  • Hunter is responsible for maintaining equipment within the training center
  • Training may also be conducted in other facilities

 

EXPECTED INCOME

  • Income typically ranges from $50,000 to $125,000 per year
  • Instructor pay
  • Instructor is paid per head when conducting public classes
  • Anyone can attend a public class
  • All public classes are posted to Hunter's web site and students enroll using this site
  • Instructors are paid a flat fee when conducting an exclusive class
  • A class is exclusive when all the seats are purchased by one customer, such as Bridgestone, Goodyear, etc.,
  • Exclusive classes comprise about 30% of the instructor's annual income
  • It is the instructor's responsibility to market the classes offered to the public and build relationships with customers
  • Hunter markets the public classes via the web and sends the current training schedule to customers buying new equipment

Responsibilities

Conduct Hunter courses in alignment, balancing, tire changing and brake lathe operation

  1. Levels 1, 2 & 3 Light duty alignment
  2. Levels 1 & 2 Heavy Duty alignment
  3. Road Force balancer training
  4. Tire changing training
  5. On-car and off-car brake lathe training
  6. Instructor equipment certification classes
  7. Equipment seminars
  • Offer classes on a frequent basis at each assigned training center
  • Send quarterly schedules to St Louis for posting classes to the Hunter web site
  • Support local sales force with on-site training and seminars
  • Maintain the needed mechanic tools to perform wheel alignment and wheel service
  • Own a suitable laptop and projector to display PowerPoint presentations
  • Stock training literature to be used in classes
  • Dress in a manner acceptable to Hunter Engineering (no jeans)
  • Attend the annual instructor meeting
  • Schedule visits to St Louis for certification until qualified to teach all classes  
  • Provide feedback to Hunter regarding recommended changes to class content

Qualifications

  • Extensive wheel alignment experience with Hunter alignment equipment
  • Instructor experience with groups of 4 to 12 students
  • Above average knowledge of primary alignment angle theory
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic alignment angles
  • Extensive experience with Hunter's Road Force balancer
  • Above average knowledge of balance theory and use of accessories
  • Extensive experience changing tires using modern tire changing equipment
  • Working knowledge of on-car and off-car brake lathes
  • Agreeable to teaching two weeks a month away from home training center
  • Average or above average computer skills, including command of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Above average communication skills  
  • Flexible to sudden changes in schedule
  • Able to construct a regional training schedule on a quarterly basis
  • Willing to donate time when expertise is needed by the regional manager
